THE ESOC Difference
-
Place Based.
We are not just a campus group—we expanded into communities because the fight for safety doesn’t stop at university gates.
-
Well Rounded.
We are not a wellness program detached from politics—we merge healing justice, spirituality, with organizing.
-
Revolutionizing Leadership.
We are not a traditional nonprofit—we are rooted in democratic leadership and collective care.
Develop a network of students, faculty/staff, alumni, and community members to advance transformative justice practices on college campuses across the DMV. ESOC is committed to building infrastructure for intercampus student organizing and providing learning experiences that foster critical consciousness. We are also in the process of expanding our curriculum, programs, and outreach to incorporate a deeper global organizing focus, encompassing cultural, political, and diaspora movements through experiential learning opportunities and archival practices.
How We Do What We Do
-
All staff and cohort members receive wellness benefits to ensure they have resources to help them get, be, and stay well.
-
We are committed to making the seemingly intangible tangible by providing praxis opportunities to help our cohort members apply their political education.
-
We believe that learning should be engaging, accessible, and supportive of creating the futures we wish to see, so we ground our curricular design and facilitation in the most ground-breaking and effective research based practices.
-
Spirituality isn’t separate from our work- it’s the heartbeat of our organizing. It grounds us in resistance, healing, and the wisdom of our ancestors, guiding us to reimagine safety and liberation beyond oppressive systems.
